He may be a world away from his hometown, but young Sydney Swan Dylan Stephens is giving back to the community and one family in particularly.

Sydney Swans young star Dylan Stephens is a world away from his home in country Victoria now that he is in the Harbour City.

But don’t think that means he isn’t still loyal to the town he grew up in.

So when he heard of a family in his hometown dealing with a serious health battle, it resonated with him strongly, and he knew he needed to help out.

“I grew up in a small country town, about 15 minutes out of Mildura, called Red Cliffs,” Stephens told The Inner Sanctum.

The local primary school holds a lot of memories for Stephens, and it’s where Brandon Walters currently attends, a young lad who is facing a significant health battle.

“Brandon’s very unwell, he’s been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma,” Stephens said.

With the help of his family, and their local business, Hattah Roadhouse, Dylan is doing his part to help out with the tragic circumstances by auctioning off his signed Indigenous guernsey to help out financially.

“It might not be a massive amount, but just to do anything to help out,” Stephens said.

Bidding for the Guernsey started on Friday, and the highest bid currently stands at $1000.

For Stephens, it’s a good to give back to the school and the community he loves.

“Not only because he goes to my school, but because it’s a kid and his family whose struggling for funds and things so just trying to help him out,” he said.

Dylan’s kicking goals off the field, and hopes to be doing the same off the field in 2021 too.

“Pre-season’s been going good actually, it’s been good to have the new boys on to get a taste of what it’s like,” he said.

“It’s been a very solid program as it is this time of the year.

“I’ve been working very hard over the off-field break so good to get some reward for that.

“Looking forward to getting through the week, then Chrissy break and getting back into it ready for round 1.”

Bidding for the guernsey ends on December 19.
