While build for next Sunday’s Elimination Chamber continued to progress, Jey Uso returned on Friday Night Smackdown for the first time since the Royal Rumble and realigned with his brother to defend their Tag Team Championships.

Welcome to the WWE Weekly Round-up, where The Inner Sanctum will take you through this week’s most pivotal moments on WWE television and preview what shapes to be a huge period ahead.

Brock Lesnar challenges Bobby Lashley for Elimination Chamber

More than a week after being eliminated by Bobby Lashley in the men’s Royal Rumble match, Brock Lesnar made an appearance on Monday Night Raw and stated that the Almighty has constantly been on his mind.

The Beast then revealed that he had a contract organised for a clash against his rival at Elimination Chamber, before the former United States Champion made his way to the ring and addressed Lesnar face to face.

The Almighty didn’t accept the offer, as he said that he needs his agent, lawyer and manager to review it before making a decision. Lesnar then F5ed Lashley twice to close the segment, as a contract signing has been scheduled for next week’s episode of Raw.

It all but confirms that the two will lock horns for a third time at Elimination Chamber, when it was suspected that this match would occur at WrestleMania. A fourth match in Hollywood is still possible, as it is difficult to see what else Lesnar and Lashley do if they don’t collide at the grandest stage of them all.

Their contest at Elimination Chamber could feature the official reunion of The Hurt Business or result in an unclean finish, setting up another match for April.

Lita returns to help Becky Lynch claim big time win over Bayley

After their initial steel cage match for Raw XXX was cancelled, Becky Lynch and Bayley finally met one-on-one inside the structure to main event Monday Night Raw.

The Man and Role Model were at war during the bout and when Damage CTRL attempted to assist their leader in the dying stages, Lita made a surprise return to neutralise Dakota Kai and IYO SKY.

Bayley then tried to escape through the cage door to secure the win, but the Hall of Famer prevented it before Lynch delivered a manhandle slam to her opponent for the much-needed victory.

The steel cage match was expected to conclude this rivalry, but Lita’s interference has more than likely opened the door for Bayley and Becky Lynch’s program to continue. It could indicate that a tag team contest is on the cards for Elimination Chamber, pitting the Man and Hall of Famer against the Role Model and IYO SKY.

Regardless, Lita’s involvement and potential relationship with Lynch needs to be explained as the ending did catch the WWE Universe by surprise.

WWE Royal Rumble 2023 Review & Results: Zayn betrays The Bloodline, Rhodes and Ripley reign supreme

Jey reunites with Jimmy to retain Smackdown Tag Team Championships

Braun Strowman and Ricochet earned a Smackdown Tag Team Championship opportunity last week and it was unknown whether Jey Uso would be by his brother’s side to defend the gold. He had not been seen since the Royal Rumble, where he walked out on The Bloodline after the group attacked Sami Zayn.

However, Jey made his return right before the title match started on Friday Night Smackdown after there was mass concern he would not make an appearance. He received a huge ovation and Jimmy was ecstatic, as a more harmonised Usos dominated the majority of their defense and successfully retained the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

After their victory, Jey still declared that he is unsure of where he stands in The Bloodline and was later approached by the former Honorary Uce. Zayn said he will defeat Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber, before thanking the Tag Team Champion for what he done at the Royal Rumble and acknowledging him.

While it may seem like Sami and Jey share a strong relationship still, the view is that the latter will cost Zayn his Undisputed Universal Championship match and ultimately pledge his loyalty to the Tribal Chief.

If this is the case, Reigns can turn his attention to Cody Rhodes for WrestleMania while The Usos would defend their Undisputed Tag Team Titles against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

Madcap Moss becomes Gunther’s number one contender

The main event of Friday Night Smackdown was contested between Rey Mysterio, Madcap Moss, Karrion Kross and Santos Escobar in a fatal-4-way match, who were all competing for an Intercontinental Title shot against Gunther next week.

While the leader of Legado Del Fantasma had the most impressive display in the contest, Moss emerged victorious in anticlimactic fashion after delivering an elbow drop to Mysterio.

He will challenge the Ring General in his first championship match in WWE, as Gunther became the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of the 21st century at 245 days.

Next week’s contest will give Gunther another successful retention under his belt, before he is projected to focus on Sheamus and Drew McIntyre for his WrestleMania match.
