The final Premium Live Event of the year will see the chaotic WarGames structure and Randy Orton make their returns, while two superstars could be removed from their respective factions.
WWE Survivor Series will stream live on BINGE this Sunday at 12pm AEDT, headlined by The Judgment Day and Drew McIntyre colliding against Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso and Orton inside WarGames.
It will be the Apex Predator’s first match since May of last year, while Damage CTRL will battle Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair and Shotzi in the women’s WarGames contest.
These two encounters could also potentially be the final time Damian Priest and Bayley are aligned with their respective groups before being betrayed, which has been teased on television for several weeks.
Below is The Inner Sanctum‘s preview and predictions for Survivor Series.
Biggest certainty: Gunther defeats The Miz
In his first Premium Live Event match since SummerSlam, Gunther will defend his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz.
The A-Lister and eight-time Intercontinental Champion controversially emerged victorious in a fatal 4-way on the November 7 edition of Raw to earn the title opportunity, gaining the audience’s plaudits and adding to his in-ring repertoire to prove he can defeat the Ring General.
However, Gunther has refused to take The Miz seriously and has continuously mocked him in the build to Survivor Series. He got under his opponent’s skin on this week’s episode of Raw in an intense confrontation, receiving a skull-crushing finale as a result and giving the A-Lister some momentum.
Despite this, the Ring General has been on a warpath with his record-breaking reign as Intercontinental Champion and is certain to leave Chicago with the gold. While it should be an interesting match with a clash of styles, Gunther will simply outclass The Miz and remain too strong.
This would also increase the possibility of Gunther walking into the Royal Rumble next January and winning the 30-man battle royal as Intercontinental Champion, as he is one of the heavy favourites to headline WrestleMania 40.
Surprise prediction: Randy Orton starts in the men’s WarGames match
As speculated and finally announced on Raw this week by Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton will compete for the first time in 18 months and step inside WarGames alongside the American Nightmare, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn and Jey Uso against The Judgment Day and Drew McIntyre.
It might be outlandish for the 14-time world champion to start inside the ring first for his team, since his opponents have the advantage, it is his first match back since last year and WWE may want to save his entry towards the end to set the scene alight.
However, The Inner Sanctum is predicting for Orton to begin in the ring and not in the shark cage on stage. Not only would he be able to work his way smoothly into the match, but it could perhaps alleviate some potential ring rust and would start the main event off in a bang.
After his teammates begin to file inside the steel structure, they could take control of the match and substitute for the Apex Predator to recuperate.

Match of the night: Santos Escobar vs Carlito
Carlito will look to avenge Rey Mysterio at Survivor Series when he challenges the man who betrayed the Legendary Luchador and LWO, Santos Escobar.
Escobar’s separation from the faction came to fruition at Crown Jewel, where he picked up Logan Paul’s brass knuckles and placed them back in the ring to assist the Maverick capture the United States Championship.
Carlito then called out the action on the November 11 edition of Smackdown, before Escobar turned on Mysterio and the LWO due to being jealous of the relationship the Legendary Luchador had formed with Carlito.
While Mysterio has now been sidelined after having surgery and can’t meet Escobar one-on-one yet, Carlito aims to teach Escobar a lesson in what will be an emotional encounter.
The Chicago crowd should be highly invested in this contest due to the hatred Escobar has attracted and combining that heat with both superstars’ in-ring capabilities, it should emerge as match of the night and only elevate Escobar’s character transformation even further.
What must happen: Bayley gets removed from Damage CTRL, Damian Priest stays in The Judgment Day for now
With WarGames the core focus of Survivor Series for the second consecutive year, Damian Priest and Bayley’s positions in The Judgment Day and Damage CTRL respectively are in great jeopardy.
Since Asuka and Kairi Sane joined Damage CTRL, there has seemed to be a disconnect between Bayley and the other members. Although Dakota Kai has downplayed any potential of the Role Model being removed from the faction, it could very well take place at Survivor Series and should.
How it would unfold remains to be seen, but it allows for Bayley to transition back to a babyface after years of being a heel and challenge IYO SKY at the Royal Rumble for the Women’s Title.
She would receive her opportunity after claiming she is the reason the Genius of the Sky is currently champion and it would also give Dakota Kai the chance to be the mouthpiece for SKY, Asuka and Sane until she recovers from injury.
The Judgment Day have also had their own issues, as Priest’s removal has been teased for much longer going back to Money in the Bank. It has been a rollercoaster with thinking it is going to transpire one week, before the group seem united once again.
However, the Punishment recently called himself the leader of the group in a heated exchange with his WarGames opponents and he could later rue the day. It would not be ideal though for Priest to depart The Judgment Day at Survivor Series while holding the Undisputed Tag Team Titles with Finn Balor, therefore it needs to be delayed.
The two betrayals should not occur in the same night, as content needs to be saved for weekly television with no Premium Live Event scheduled until next year’s Royal Rumble.
The Judgment Day could also win inside WarGames due to a potential Randy Orton turn on Cody Rhodes or Jey Uso, not making sense for Priest to be exiled from the faction after a victory.
