Australia’s own wrestling superstar Rhea Ripley is itching for WrestleMania 38 and said she still has the same nerves she had two years earlier.

The South Australian made her first appearance two years ago in a crowd-less WrestleMania 36 before a half-crowd last year.

Speaking to The Inner Sanctum ahead of her four-way Women’s Tag Team Championship match, Ripley said she wasn’t sure if she’d get on the card for this year’s event.

“I’m so excited. I didn’t think that I was gonna be on it, it was last minute for me, but I am so pumped,” she said.

“I’ve got like a million things going on in my mind right now and I’m also trying to physically get ready for it.

“It definitely does get to you a little bit, because everyone wants to be a part of WrestleMania, it’s the biggest show in wrestling across the whole like year.

“It’s the one thing that you want to be on. I was definitely getting a little bit nervous, I knew that there was already the two girls singles matches.”

Ripley has wrestled in singles matches at her previous two WrestleManias, but she’s eager to team with Liv Morgan this year.

“I thought you know what, I should probably try and get along with someone,” she said.

“So that’s when Liv and I came in, and luckily I like Liv already so we meshed very very well together and now we’re on Mania.

“I definitely am one that likes to be by themselves and I don’t really like having friends.

“I like to just sort of bring the brutality by myself, but every now and then I find a good person to like mesh with and want to step in the ring and team with.

“Liv is one of those people, I definitely made a mistake trusting Nikki A.S.H, she backstabbed me and I was not expecting that.

“But I feel like Liv and I, we’ve known each other since like the PC time where we were in NXT together.

“We’ve trained together many, many times, we’ve tagged together many, many times mostly in like groups like we did Survivor Series, we did the Liv’s team on Raw.

“We know each other fairly well, but it is definitely a massive learning curve for me to step in the ring and team with someone, like you got to learn their move set and how you can incorporate your stuff with theirs and just get along in general.”

WrestleMania will have a full house for the first time since 2019 and Ripley is itching to get in front of the WWE Universe.

“I mean, if you’re not nervous, you don’t love it right? And with that many people in the crowd, of course is going to be nerves,” she said.

“Right now, I’m pretty calm. But I know that when it comes to the day, like that’s when everything just comes like flooding in.

“It was the same with my first WrestleMania even though there was zero people in attendance, I still felt so incredibly nervous and then even with my second one as well where the stadium wasn’t completely full, but to me, standing where I was standing, it looked full.

“So that was terrifying, but at the same time so exhilarating.

“This year I feel like it’s going to be exactly the same…WrestleMania is just wild, it brings so many emotions out of you like people saw last year I started crying on stage and I don’t like crying in front of people.”

WrestleMania 38 streams LIVE on WWE Network – Sunday, April 3 and Monday, April 4 at 10am AEDT.
