Making for the biggest move in recent memory, Kylian Mbappé will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Today, ending months of speculation, Mbappé has officially notified PSG that he will not be activating his extension clause come season’s end.

The youngest player to score 100 Ligue 1 goals, the 25-year-old is also PSG’s all-time leading scorer with 243 goals from 290 appearances.

In a competitive market for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner, here are the leading contenders for his services.

Real Madrid

The team most likely to acquire the Frenchman, Real Madrid have tried on multiple occasions to sign the forward. Los Blancos attempted to sign Mbappé in the summer of 2022, however the French captain opted to stay at PSG.

With Mbappé available, Real Madrid are set to make another offer. However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that their first offer will require the World Cup winner to take a pay cut.

Multiple reports suggest Mbappé would prefer to sign with the Spanish club, who are confident they can sign the star.

Real Madrid could have a scary attacking three should Mbappé decide to sign with the La Liga powerhouse. Playing alongside Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham, Los Blancos would cause many headaches for their opponents.

However, the pursuit for Mbappé’s club beyond 2024 is only in its infant stages, meaning anything could happen.

Could the team from Merseyside pull off the ultimate heist?

Experiencing the dawn of the Klopp era at Liverpool, this could promote change at Anfield.

With Mohammed Salah out of contract at the end of the season, Mbappé could be the perfect replacement for the Egyptian. Attracting a record-breaking offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad last August, Liverpool could be more inclined to letting Salah walk with Mbappé on the table.

Additionally, the departure of Jurgen Klopp could see the new manager favour a bid for the Frenchman. Creating yet another frightening combination in attack, Mbappé could lead the Liverpool back to Champions League glory.

The biggest issue for the Reds however will be having enough money to sign the 25-year-old. Reports have suggested Liverpool have resisted temptation previously in order to keep their financial structure intact.

Presuming this will be an issue again, Liverpool has a big decision to make.

A recent wildcard suitor, the Gunners are in need of a clinical goal scorer. The pairing of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus have just 9 goals to their name in the Premier League this season, seven less than Golden Boot leader Erling Haaland.

It has been reported that Mbappé would be interested in a move to North London, following the footsteps of fellow Frenchman and Arsenal great Thierry Henry.

Names like Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen have been linked to the Gunners, but a superstar signing like Mbappé would take them to the next level.

Playing as a central striker or left winger, Mbappé could be missing piece Arsenal need to win their first Premier League title since the 2003/04 season.

Like Liverpool, Arsenal would have to break their wage structure to sign Mbappé.

Previously, they have been praised for having a very balanced wage bill with no player earning more than £300,000 per week. With some reports saying Mbappé currently earns a weekly wage of around €1,000,000, an overhaul of this system would be required.

A move to Arsenal would turn the Premier League on its head, but the lack of groundwork and funds make it highly unlikely.
