Geelong ran out five goal winners over bottom of the ladder North Melbourne on Sunday, but its early season performances are leaving a lot to be desired.

The Cats fielded a side with an average age of just under 28 on Sunday, and are yet to welcome back Shaun Higgins (33 years old).

Geelong coach Chris Scott was positive despite admitting there were some issues with his side’s play at this early juncture.

“There are some things happening that aren’t by design,” Scott said.

“There are a lot of specific areas that we’re a bit off in.”

Despite the issues that have been present in Geelong’s game style to date, they dominated the statistics on Sunday.

Down at the Cattery, the midfield group recorded 18 more clearances and 31 more contested disposals than North Melbourne.

“We’ve just got some things that aren’t quite in sync at the moment,” Scott said.

“Hopefully when we get a bit more consistency with our personnel, it’ll start to marry up with the things we’re working on during the week.

“We’re seeing some good signs during the week, we’re just not quite there game day.”

“You look at those numbers; you shouldn’t come away too disheartened with the performance. It’s a domination, you know, the number of shots, the number of entries for a start.”

“If you looked at the numbers overall, you’d be happy. Except when you get to the conversion.”

Geelong welcomed back superstar Patrick Dangerfield after his three game suspension, and will welcome in boom recruit Jeremy Cameron next week for his first game in the hoops.

“[Cameron is] ready to go. He’s in,“ Scott announced.
