2021 was a year of mixed results for Hobart’s Krystina “Mousey” Jacobs (5-2).
After capturing the WIBA World Super Featherweight title in March, the 27 year old came up short in a move down in weight against World ranked Featherweight, Beck Hawker (5-0, 2 KOs) in October.
With the 50-50 campaign in the rear-view mirror, Jacobs now turns her attention to a showdown with Victoria’s Carly Salmon (1-0). Scheduled for six rounds with the Australasian Super Featherweight title on the line, the bout forms a key part of the fight night headlined by the Michael Zerafa vs Issac Hardman grudge match.
The April 20 contest will not be the first time these two have shared the ring, though. In 2017, the pair fought an amateur bout, one that was ultimately won by Salmon via points decision.
Fully aware of what her opponent is capable of, Jacobs knows she is going to have to work incredibly hard to avenge her previous loss.
The Tasmanian is determined to walk away with her hand raised, however.
“She’s very tough. When we fough last time, she did beat me,” Jacobs told The Inner Sanctum.
“It’s going to be a tough fight for me again. She’s sort of got a Mexican style, she’ll come [forward].
“When I’m in there, I can’t stop. She’s not going to give me a break, so I can’t give her one either. That’s how I’m going to get it done.”
