The Sydney Sixers have finalised their 18-man squad by signing Victorian quick Mitch Perry for the upcoming BBL13 campaign.
The 23-year-old joins the three-time champions after spending a season with the Melbourne Renegades in BBL10. Since making his debut for Victoria in 2019, he has taken 93 wickets in 34 first-class matches, including seven four-wicket hauls.
His last two seasons have seen him elevated into one of domestic cricket’s top young bowlers in the Sheffield Shield, and he was able to take 29 wickets at an average of 25.89.
Head of the Sydney Sixers and women’s cricket legend Rachel Haynes says Perry’s addition will help him grow as a bowler, especially with veteran Jackson Bird there to mentor him.

“Mitch has had some prior experience in this competition, having been a part of the Renegades a few years ago and has earned a recall through a number of impressive performances for Victoria,” Haynes said.
“For a young player like Mitch to have the opportunity to be around and learn from some of the most experienced players and coaches in the world will benefit him hugely.
“We see Jackson Bird as being someone who is a great mentor to younger players and Mitch as someone that could benefit immensely from working with him.
“We’re thrilled to have filled our primary list spots for the season ahead and we know our members and fans can’t wait to see the boys get their season underway on December 8 at the SCG.”
The Sixers begin their tournament at the SCG against the Melbourne Renegades on Friday night.
