Collingwood has secured the services of former Victorian cricketer Wil Parker, who has signed as a Category B rookie.

The 21-year-old will leave cricket and make a return to football, picking the reigning premiers as his new home.

Parker was a highly-rated AFL draft prospect in 2020, but opted to focus on his cricket.

He became the fourth-youngest cricketer to make their first-class debut for Victoria when he debuted in February 2020. Later that year, the leg-spinner earned a BBL contract, signing with the Hobart Hurricanes for the 2020/21 season.

Seen as a prospect of spin bowling for Australia, Parker fell down the pecking order with the rise of Todd Murphy. Six wickets to his name in four first-class matches, the opportunity of playing football again became a foreseeable possibility.

Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs showed interest in the running half-back following his 2019 NAB League campaign with the Eastern Ranges.

He racked up 27 possessions in the 2019 NAB League Grand Final which the Ranges lost to the Oakleigh Chargers.
