Men’s Basketball Medal Matches

Gold Medal Match – USA vs France (12:30pm) – Team USA will hope to show the world that they have hit their straps, and reassert their dominance on the court for the world to see. Standing in their way is a French team, led by all time defensive player Rudy Gobert, who have already beaten the USA once in this tournament. Sparks should fly with the gold medal on the line.

Bronze Medal Match – Slovenia vs Australia (9:00pm) – The Boomers will be hoping to win a historic medal, having never won an Olympic medal in Men’s Basketball. The only thing stopping them, is 22-year-old Slovenian phenom Luka Doncic, who has proved to be almost unstoppable throughout the Games (and in the NBA). If the Aussies can find a way to limit his influence, they will be well on their way to victory.

Baseball Medal Matches

Bronze Medal Match – Dominican Republic vs Korea (1:00pm) – After a strong performance against Israel earlier in the week, Korea will enter as favourites against the Dominican Republic. Kim Hyunsoo will be looking to keep his strong scoring form in place, after one of the standout performances of the Games with the bat so far, and a perfect fielding performance so far.

Gold Medal Match – USA vs Japan (8:00pm) – Watch for an upset as the home side will look to defeat the USA and win another home gold medal. Japan has been strong all tournament, and Yamada Tetsuto, who leads the Olympics for stolen bases will look to keep the scoring moving for Japan. Given the MLB players are missing from Team USA, it presents. an opportunity for Japan to add to their gold medal tally.

Diving – Men’s 10m Platform Final (4:00pm)

China’s Jian Yang and Yuan Cao will go in as favourites for the gold in the event, but there are a number of contenders who will fancy their chances with a couple of big dives, including Great Britain’s Tom Daley and Aussie Cassiel Rousseau.

The exact lineup for the final won’t be known until later in the day, as the Semi Final will be at 11am to determine the final eight divers.

Athletics

Women’s High Jump Final (8:35pm) – Aussies Nicola McDermott and Eleanor Patterson will be among the favourites for the final, as they challenge Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchick for the gold medal in the high jump.

Men’s 1500m Final (9:40pm) – Timothy Cheruiyot (KEN) will come in as favourite for the Men’s 1500m, with two Aussies in the final hoping to spoil the party. Ollie Hoare and Stewart McSweyn will be hoping to carry their strong form, and to make the final fast, to challenge the other contenders.

Cycling – Men’s Madison (5:55pm)

The Women’s Madison was chaos and madness, and a thrilling race. It was exactly what Olympic organisers were hoping for when they announced the event would return to the Olympics.

The Men will go at it tomorrow, and Great Britain will hope to complete the double and win another gold medal.
