Tippah Dwan has been added to the Adelaide Thunderbirds side for 2022, as the attacking end starts to come into focus.

Dwan spent the past two seasons with the Firebirds, playing mostly as a goal attack. She emerged on the scene in 2020 as the replacement for Gretel Bueta, who was on maternity leave, but was relegated to less court time in 2021 as Bueta returned.

In 2020 she had 184 goals, to go with 148 goal assists, 255 feeds and 253 centre pass receives. The numbers diminished with her court time in 2021, but Dwan continued to show flashes of ability.

Her ability to act as a playmaker and intermediary will allow the Thunderbirds to change up their attacking mix, as Dwan presents with the ability to help Georgie Horjus play in the midcourt, and assist with the Power Five at the end of quarters.

Thunderbirds High Performance Manager Pitre Bourdon complimented Dwan’s versatility and skillset.

“Tippah is a very dynamic and agile player who will bring great netball smarts to our attack end,” Bourdon said.

“We’ve seen what she’s capable of over the past two SSN season and we’re very excited to welcome her to our club.”

Dwan announced that she was leaving the Firebirds last weekend, citing the exciting professional opportunities that lay ahead.

She is the first player added to the Adelaide Thunderbirds for 2022, with the remaining players signed all having previously played for the Thunderbirds.

Her progress this season and potential was highlighted by her selection in the Australian Diamonds Development Squad for 2021/2022.

The remainder of the 2022 Adelaide Thunderbirds squad will be announced before October 8.
