Joe Gauci has made the move of a lifetime after signing with English Premier League side Aston Villa in a reported A-League record transfer from Adelaide United.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Reds will receive €1.5m fee plus add-ons and Gauci has signed a contract until June 2028.
Gauci posted on his Instagram a farewell to the United fans.
“Thank you, thank you Reds fans for your support over the last three and a half seasons,” he posted.
“To represent the club I grew up supporting both on and off the field has been a dream come true, and the memories we’ve created I will cherish for the rest of my life.
“I hope one day our paths cross again.”
Gauci joins Mile Jedinak, Chris Herd, Jordan Lyden, Shane Lowry, Brett Holman, Mark Bosnich, Frank Pimblett and Jimmy Adam as Australians to have represented Villa.
