Now that many rookies have maxed out in price and reached upgrade time, bringing in the right, high-scoring premiums to be our VC and C choices is critical. The SuperCoach Sanctum PODcast has checked out the form and has all the best options for this week’s action.
Jack Macrae – $630,200
Macrae was back to his best last week, despite his side’s loss in Adelaide. 144 points saw his average for the season jump to 125.4. He has great form against his opponent this week in Collingwood, having scored 100+ on the last five occasions.
Back at home at Marvel, a ground he scores well on, and a Friday night game, means he is the perfect VC option. Realistically, if you don’t put the VC in Macrae, you will probably find yourself behind in your H2H leagues after one game!
Patrick Cripps – $580,700
Patrick Cripps will be a regular each week in our article until such times as he fails. 151 last week in another best on ground performance saw his average (excluding his injury-hampered 38) for the season hit 140.
Cripps plays on the Sunday against the GWS Giants, a side he has notoriously scored poorly against. But with de Boer unlikely to play (named as an emergency) and Cripps now fully fit, there seems no reason why he won’t continue on his barnstorming way and deliver another big captain’s score.

Christian Petracca – $559,200
Midfielders have dominated against the Eagles in Supercoach (McCluggage 154 last week anyone?), so take your pick out of Petracca or Oliver (or both) to go big this week.
We are going with Petracca, simply because the game is at Optus Stadium in Perth, the site of his glorious Grand Final Norm Smith winning performance. The good memories and the poor opposition seem the perfect mix for a big score. Petracca is also overdue for a huge score!
Unique Captain’s Choice – Todd Goldstein – $456,500
Since Tristan Xerri’s injury two weeks ago, Goldstein has resumed as the solo ruck option for the Kangaroos and has been scoring like he used to back when the job was his full time. He scored 125 two weeks ago and a huge 142 against the Dockers last week, despite the lopsided loss.
Goldstein is up against young Port ruckman Sam Hayes this week, so his experience should allow him to dominate the ruck and contribute to another big score. In just 1.3% of teams, you could easily sideways trade someone such as Braydon Preuss and cash in with this unique captain option.
Also Consider…
Lachie Neale $663,000 – biggest points score in SuperCoach. Enough said.
Tom Lynch $491,700 – in rare form the last two weeks and could have a field day at the ‘G against the Hawks.
Travis Boak $587,300 – never fails to disappoint. Third top scorer overall!
And Avoid…
Max Gawn $669,400 – under an injury cloud. Given the lack of quality opposition, might see less game time.
Last Week’s Captaincy Selections
Cripps 151, Neale 123, Macrae 144, Witts 132, Dunkley 78, Stewart 74, Gawn 82.
