After backing in Max Gawn last week and him duly saluting with 172 points, the SuperCoach Sanctum PODcast has run its eye over the form heading into Round 8, giving you the best VC and C options for the round ahead.
Lachie Neale – $644,100
Lachie Neale is in scintillating form. His game against the Sydney Swans had to be seen to be believed, amassing a huge 187 points. His average for the year now sits at over 140, a score which you would happily lock-in for your captain each week.
And who does Neale play this week? The hapless Eagles. The boys from the west have struggled in the centre square (Jayden Short last week a prime example), so at home, against the bottom-placed Eagles, Neale should again dominate and post a great score. A Saturday night game means there are plenty of opportunities to try someone as the VC first, and if that fails, jump on Neale with confidence.
Josh Dunkley – $594,6000
Going on a bit of a hunch here, but the Bulldogs midfielder has been in great form in recent weeks, with a season-low of 97 and with last two scores of 142 and 139. With his skipper Bontempelli out this week, expect Dunkley to attend plenty of centre bounces and collect many contested possessions on the slippery Adelaide Oval.
A preliminary final rematch should have Dunks fired up for a big performance, so if you are looking for a bit of a different VC option than just locking in Jack Macrae, why not try him and reap the rewards!

The A-Z of Round 7: Who hit new heights and who hit new lows?
Patrick Cripps – $526,700
The Carlton captain has been on fire all year. If you take out his injury affected 38, he is averaging a huge 138. 139 and 138 in the last two weeks, a home game on the fast-paced Marvel Stadium and a massive 152 in 2019 against the Crows when he was last fully fit all point to another big score on the cards.
The 38 against the Suns means his price is still cheap, but it won’t be for long. So if you haven’t got him, now is the time. Bring him in and place the C on him and take full advantage. If you can also somehow make Neale the VC the night before, even better!
Unique Captain’s Choice – Tom Stewart – $607,600
Is it possible that Tom Stewart is in career-best form? He just seems to keep getting better each week. If it weren’t for his efforts last week, the Cats would have lost far more easily to the Dockers than they did. A mammoth 187 points have seen his ownership rise to 19%, but that means 81% of players can’t take advantage.
The Cat’s defence, and therefore Stewart, can expect plenty of ball again this week against a resurgent GWS Giants. At the very least, try the VC on him and see how he dominates!
Also Consider…
Jack Macrae $656,000 – we said last week he never has two bad games in a row. Surely it can’t be three!
Max Gawn $677,600 – dominating and on top of his game.
Jarrod Witts $557,200 – continues to go under the radar and dominate. Surely he needs more recognition!?
And Avoid…
Ben Keays $589,200 – just in case the Crows captaincy curse gets him too!
