Tom Stewart will celebrate his 150th game for the Cats against the Crows on Friday night at the Adelaide Oval.

The Geelong vice-captain admitted playing 150 games wasn’t on his mind when he made his AFL debut.

Stewart earlier this week said how he was proud of his achievement and how he is grateful for his support over his footballing journey.

“It’s something that I’m really proud of, not only for myself but my family and all of those who have put some work and time into me over the journey,” he said.

“I think there’s about a dozen that will end up coming across, which is pretty cool. My partner, kids and some family members will be at the game as well. It’s a nice time to have and to reflect on those people that have been on the journey with me.”

Stewart was drafted pick 40 from Geelong back in the 2016 National Draft. As a mature aged pick, he was quick to establish himself as one of the best intercept marking and rebounding defenders in the competition.

The five-time All-Australian and two-time club best and fairest is determined to contribute toward Geelong’s successes going forward and believes that the current playing core is capable of winning another premiership in the coming years.

After finishing 12th last year, Stewart remains adamant that the mix of experience and youth within the playing group holds the keys to achieving Grand Final success.

“I do see a flag in this group… I still think our best is as good as anyone’s,” he said.

“A lot of things have to go right for us in order to win but I’m super confident in the preparation we’ve had over this pre-season in particular.”

Stewart admits the Cats’ eight-point win over St Kilda to kick off the 2024 season wasn’t perfect, but is confident Geelong will return home with the four points against Adelaide.

The Crows will be looking to bounce back after their excruciating six-point loss to Gold Coast in their Round 1 matchup.
