The Mainland Tactix will be a force to be reckoned with in the ANZ Premiership 2021 season as Karin Burger and Jane Watson pair up.

What to expect in 2021

The Christchurch-based Tactix have kept the core of their squad together as they bid to go one step further after losing out in the 2020 ANZ Premiership Grand Final last season.

The addition of Karin Burger adds national experience to the side and will allow Jane Watson to play more in her preferred GK position. The squad now boasts four Silver Ferns fresh off their World Cup and Constellation Cup victories in Te Paea Selby-Rickit, Kimiora Poi, Burger and Watson.

The loss of Temalisi Fakahokotau is a blow for a club whose expectations will be to make it back to the Grand Final.

Head coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek will lead the team again for the 2021 season.

Going one better to claim their maiden ANZ Premiership Cup is the goal with this talented line-up Tactix will be putting out on the court.

Biggest factor for success

Tactix has the talent on paper to go all the way this year, but it must maintain that hunger and desire to compete every night.

After losing in its maiden Grand Final appearance last year, it may be forgiven for starting slowly out of the gates in 2021. However, it is imperative that it gets off to a good start to put the league on notice.

With the inclusion of Karin Burger, Tactix boast a Silver Ferns tandem with Jane Watson in its defensive circle that has the capabilities to minimise opposition attacking forays, but games aren’t played on paper and their defensive duo must live up to the hype.

Low roster turnover, good depth and a wealth of international experience mean there are no excuses for Tactix this season.
