Queensland Firebirds Goal Shooter Romelda Aiken has signed on for 2022, making it her 15th year in the purple dress. Turning 33 in November Aiken shows no sign of slowing down with the Jamaican scoring 531 goals for the season with an 82 percent conversion rate.
Aiken is known for her strong presence under the post, being the number one offensive rebounder in the competition with 87 rebounds across the season.
Although there was some hype around Aikens recommitment to the club, she’s just glad to be back doing what she loves.
“For me it is just another year. I love playing and as long as I get opportunities to play, I am forever grateful and proud,” Aiken said.
“I am just very happy to be offered another year, these girls are passionate and just awesome to work with.
“I love how passionate we are as a club, the values we live and breathe are amazing and I love being a Birdie.”
