Real Madrid star and Colombian international Linda Caicedo, has claimed the 2023 Golden Girl award at the age of 18 after a tremendous season for club and country.
Presented by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Caicedo took home the prestigious award ahead of Vicky Becho, Laurina Fazer, Salma Paralluelo, Vicky Lopez, Giulia Dragoni, Chiara Beccari, Esmee Brugts, Kathrine Kuhl and Matildas star attacker Mary Fowler.
Only 18, Caicedo made 24 appearances for Real Madrid – in all competitions – scoring four goals, was nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award and helped lead her country to the Quarter-Finals of the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Upon taking home the Golden Girl honour, she is among the few players nominated for The Best FIFA Women’s Player of the Year Award 2023.
A childhood cancer survivor, Caicedo has a tremendous story and recently became the first-ever footballer – male or female – to compete in the Under-17s, Under-20s, and senior FIFA World Cup in a 12-month span.

Born in 2005, her career began with the Colombian club América de Cali at the age of 14 before making her way to Deportivo Cali and later Real Madrid.
The Golden Girl award adds to her recognition as one of the world’s best young talents and comes after she was awarded the Premios Fémina Fútbol Young Player of the Year in 2021 and IFFHS World’s Best Youth (U20) Player in 2022.
Caicedo will be eager to continue her tremendous form as Real Madrid gets ready to take on Barcelone this weekend in the famed El Classico derby in the Primera Division. Here, she will go head-to-head with Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati.
