In an Australian first, the Penrith Panthers were presented a custom WWE Undisputed Universal Championship – complete with club side-plates – from WWE itself.
Penrith last week claimed the NRL Premiership in a thriller over the Brisbane Broncos, completing the biggest comeback in grand final history and win a third consecutive title.
Presented by Australian WWE Superstar Grayson Waller on social media, the Sydney native posted:
“As a Roosters fan, this pains me to do but… Congrats @PenrithPanthers on becoming Undisputed NRL Champions,” he said.
“How about you all come and show off your custom Undisputed Universal Championship at #WWEChamber in Perth this February? Open invite.”
Previous recipients of custom WWE Championships include NBA Champions the Golden State Warriors, Premier League champions Manchester City FC, Champions League winners Real Madrid, WNBA champions Seattle Storm, World Series Champions the Boston Red Sox, and Superbowl Champions the Philadelphia Eagles.
WWE recently announced its long-awaited return to Australia for a globally televised Premium Live Event, WWE Elimination Chamber: Perth, which will take place at Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia, on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
This will mark WWE’s first major event in Australia since 2018 and the only PLE in the Asia-Pacific region in 2024.
