The wrestling world is in mourning after the passing of WWE, ECW and NWA Hall of Famer Terry Funk at the age of 79.

The hardcore wrestling legend had a career which spanned across five decades and multiple promotions across the world.

The man known as ‘Chainsaw Charlie’ also won numerous championships, including the ECW World Championship, the NWA World Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship with close friend Mick Foley.

Foley posted to his Instagram ‘we just lost a legend’.

“Terry Funk is gone. I just talked to Terry’s daughter, Brandee, who gave me the awful news,” he said.

“He was my mentor, my idol, and one of my closest friends. He was the greatest wrestler I ever saw.
