Former ONE Championship featherweight champion and Aussie Martin Nguyen has suffered his second straight knock out defeat at ONE Revolution.

Australian Martin Nguyen has been knocked out by South Korea’s Kim Jae Woong in the first round at ONE Revolution, now marking his second straight knock out defeat.

Nguyen entered the contest as the number one ranked Featherweight contender, with the hope that a win would get him a rematch against current champion Thanh Le. However, it is now Kim who appears in line for the next title shot with this impressive performance.

The fight was guaranteed to be action packed with both men having high finishing rates and exciting highlight reels.

The first round began with Nguyen taking control of the centre of the octagon and pressuring Kim against the fence. Both men were feinting early, but Nguyen’s appeared to be having the better success also throwing low calf kicks to try and disrupt the movement of Kim.

Nguyen continued his heavy kicking approach as the round wore on, mixing up shots to the leg, body and head.

At the midway point of the round Kim was able to land a clean right hand which earned Nguyen respect and forced him to retreat.

With under two minutes remaining in the round, Kim caught Nguyen coming in with a right hook which shut the Aussie’s lights out, sending him to the canvas. Kim then followed up with ground and pound to secure the victory.
