Port Adelaide SANFL coach Matthew Lokan spoke about the young up and coming stars at the club following its trial match.

Port Adelaide SANFL coach Matthew Lokan said the internal trial day is a ‘big day’ for the first and second year players, and they proved it.

After the game, which resulted in a 115-point win to Team Black over Team White, Lokan discussed the performances of Miles Bergman and Ollie Lord.

“I love watching the young guys, I think, you know, Ollie Lord and Taj Schofield, and the second year guys didn’t play much footy last year as well,” he said.

“So you know, Miles Bergman, Mitch Georgiades, they got an opportunity to play another game.

“I think from all our first and second year guys, it’s a it’s a big day for them.

“And also our SANFL contracted guys, they get the opportunity to play, you know that they’re running out and playing alongside guys like Travis Boak, and Robbie Gray and you know, Charlie Dixon.

“So for those younger guys, it’s a great opportunity to give them a game and we’ll build on them over the next coming games.

“He (Bergman) obviously played mostly across halfback today.

“So that’s where we’ve been training him, but I think he’s one of those guys that can roll through, you know, wing, half-forward as well.

“He’ll probably spend more time down back but that doesn’t mean he’s locked and fixed there.”
