Football Australia’s National Second Tier will be bringing some championship pedigree to the competition.

The Inner Sanctum understands 2023 NPL NSW Men’s Premiers APIA Leichhardt will be part of the competition when it launches in 2025.

The side from Sydney’s Inner-West are no stranger to the national stage, having qualified for the final stages of the Australia Cup four times in its current format.

Historically, APIA won the Australia Cup in 1966, and made the competitions final in 1964, 1965, and 1977, as well as the NSL Cup in 1982 and 1988.

They were also NSL Champions in 1987, a competition they competed in from 1977-1992.

At a state level, APIA Leichhardt have been six time Premiers, six time Champions, and five time winners of the Waratah Cup.
