Rump, Porterhouse, Sirloin or Tomahawk? No we’re not talking about the different types of steak. Stake F1 Team is the new name of the formerly known Alpha Romeo F1 team owned by Peter Sauber.

Sauber will enter the 2024 Formula One season as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber (but will go as Stake F1 Team on a daily basis), continuing the sponsorship deals signed by Alfa Romeo with Stake and Kick in the previous season.

The team had to find a new name for the next two seasons after its contract with Alfa Romeo was not extended beyond 2023 ahead of the arrival of full Audi branding in 2026.

Sauber has been a consistent key competitor in the Formula One landscape, holding a place on the grid every year since 1993.

One thing that has changed consistently over the team’s time in the sport is the name. Previous names have included BMW Sauber, Sauber Petronas Engineering and most recently Alpha Romeo F1 since 2018.

Stake F1 team will officially launch their 2024 season with a car reveal on February 5.
