Setting a sizzling time of 29.34 in last week’s heats. Hill Top Jack started the warm favourite from box 2. A finalist in the last years Group 1 Maturity and Group 3 Cranbourne Classics. He was still searching for his first Group victory.

The key danger was fellow Victorian, King of Calypso, out of the inside box. As the gates raised, Hill Top Jack, Run Red Run and Classy Lady surged ahead into the first turn. Hill Top Jack showing his class to push up on the inside and lead.

Down the back straight, he had stretched out by a few lengths. The time looking similar to his speedy heat. As he rounded the last bend it was all over. Streaking away to a comfortable win in another smart time of 29.48.

Loch and Loaded ran on well for second in another strong showing for top Tasmanian trainer Anthony Bullock. King of Calypso making up ground after a poor start to take third.

The win just another day at the office for Geall, having trained previous Group 1 winners in Up Hill Jill, Koblenz and My Redeemer during his successful training career.

In the Curtains and Blinds Consolation Final, the Michael Sherriff trained He’s So Cool, scored an all the way win. Challenged by Don’t Start Now for much of the race, he proved too strong in the final straight. Don’t Start Now tailing off to finish third. Frayah’s Ginger sneaking up the inside late for second.

Training performance of the night went to Anthony Bullock, scoring three wins and nine placings across the 10 races.
