The Swiss strike continues, as Switzerland finishes runners-up in Group G, defeating Serbia 3-2 in an entertaining group match finale.

Both teams were active on the counterattack, spreading the ball wide and shifting the ball inside for close shots at goal.

In the first thirty seconds of the game, Switzerland got on the front foot and attempted three shots on target against a struggling Serbian defence.

They would eventually put a goal on the board in the 20th minute with the help of Xherdan Shaqiri with a lay-off shot, assisted by Djibril Sow.

The combined efforts of Shaqiri, Breel Embolo, and Remo Freuler shined in a needed victory, creating and finishing shots in a fast-paced attack designed to manoeuvre Serbia’s strict defensive strategy.

Serbia would spark a 10-minute run in its favour, striking two goals in the 26th and 35th minute to give itself a 2-1 lead with 10 minutes left in the first half.

Aleksandar Mitrović would tie the game with a calm short jump header assisted by Dušan Tadić, and to take the lead, Dusan Vlahović would design a lethal finish into the back of the net.
