Erin Phillips talks on what keeps her motivated to continue playing Aussie Rules at the top level.

Erin Phillips’ sporting career has been nothing short of remarkable. Her achievements across two sports include Olympic Games, Championships and Best and Fairests; so what is it that keeps her motivated after all the success?

With injuries impacting her over the past few seasons, there were many questions over the off season if we would see Phillips in the competition again. Fortunately for AFLW fans, the competitive side of Phillips sees her pulling on the guernsey once again for season 6.

With round one on the horizon, Philips says she is “feeling fantastic, it’s nice to come into round one feeling 100 percent ready to go.”

However it is more than just peak physical performance, that allows Phillips to keep coming back for more.

Her competitive nature started at a young age thanks to her father Greg Phillips, with the pair regularly shooting hoops together in the driveway.

“He would never let me win and I would do whatever I could to try and beat him,” she said.

‘So I just really love competing and getting out there and seeing how far I can push the limits, the winning and losing is all part of it’

As a mother of three, it is now her own children that are a source of motivation.

“Having them see me run out there with some pretty powerful amazing women, it’s just absolutely fantastic.” she said.

“Being somebody that a young kid looks up to and hopefully aspires to be and passion is really what drives me, still driving me at the age of 36 and if I wasn’t in love with the sport, I wouldn’t be playing it”

Round one of the AFWL season kicks off this weekend with Adelaide Crows playing Brisbane Lions 1:40pm Sunday
