The West Coast Fever are gearing up for a big 2024 season now having their whole team together.

All 10 contracted players are now in Perth and training out on court and coach Dan Ryan is excited seeing his rookies and experienced players gel and can’t wait to see where the team can go.

“The energy in the group is really high, really positive vibes from everybody and we’re just seeing improvement session by session which is really exciting,” Ryan said.

The Perth-based team are now in their sixth week of pre-season and have included practice matches to their schedule to put their new combinations to the test.

“It’s been a gradual build getting everyone up to Fever standards of how we like to execute out skills and our work rate and out work ethic,” Ryan said.

“Then it’s been slowly drip feeding different parts of our trademarks, our playing style, our game plan and our game strategies that we use.

“Also having a really open mind to what new parts of our game plan or parts of our strategies will naturally emerge with the new players we have in the line-up.”

English import Fran Williams was the last to join the group but has slotted in nicely into the Fever’s defence end.

Williams was an integral part to the Loughborough Lightning’s premiership win in the Netball Super League and has 43 caps for the Roses under her belt.

“Fran’s an incredibly intelligent defender, she can read the play exceptionally well and compliment Sunday (Aryang), Kadie-Ann (Dehaney) and Jess (Anstiss) in that backline really nicely,”

“All of our defenders are really unique and play slightly different, but we’re seeing some great natural connections and combinations forming.”
