Brisbane Lions pre-season is back in full swing, with the club’s intraclub match taking place at Brighton Home Arena on Friday afternoon.

After a heartbreaking finish to last season, losing the Grand Final by four points. The Lions have made to come out with vengeance for the new year.

Lions forward Lincoln McCarthy said the players are “really motivated to go one better.”

McCarthy said one of last year’s draftees had shone brightly, making his presence felt early.

“The biggest highlight was Logan Morris, he started off on fire,” McCarthy said.

Morris finished the game kicking four goals, with three being in the first 20 minutes of the affair.

“He’s a great young player, got that ability to play tall, play small, runs really well,” McCarthy said.

“I’m looking forward to him working his way into the team at some point.”

Another unexpected highlight from the intra-club was defender-turned-forward for the day Darcy Gardiner kicking three goals.

“Would be really fun to be play aside him, hopefully that’s the plan,” McCarthy said.

“He looks really good, he’s got good craft, his a terrific competitor”.
