After leading her team to their first SSN premiership, 2023 captain Hannah Petty will return for her ninth and tenth seasons after re-signing for two years.

2023 was a monumental year for the Adelaide Thunderbirds and for their captain Petty. Missing four matches due to a niggling ankle injury, she was still a consistent influence as a leader of the group.

When she was on court though, Petty had a real impact, usually coming on throughout quarters to impact at centre and wing defence.

In her premiership campaign Petty finished with 92 feeds, eight intercepts and 73 goal assists.

Pitre Bourdon, the High Performance Manager at the Thunderbirds attributes the group’s success this year in part to Petty’s leadership.

“Hannah has grown up at the Thunderbirds and led as captain since 2020, and her impact is evident both on and off the court,” Bourdon said.

“After eight seasons, it was amazing to see her lead the club to a premiership in 2023 and we’re excited to build on that in 2024 and beyond.”
