After a year to remember, Matilda Garrett, Australian Diamond 191, will resume her career at the Adelaide Thunderbirds as they look to win two consecutive premierships.

Re-signing for two seasons, Matilda Garrett, the newest Australian Diamond and Premiership defender with the Adelaide Thunderbirds will be at the club until the end of 2025.

Garrett was a break-out star in 2023, she had her best career year in the SSN, which led to her earning a call up to the 2023-24 Diamonds squad. She became Diamond 191 when she debuted against South Africa.

In the SSN, Garrett netted 515.5 Nissan Net Points alongside 16 intercepts, 10 defensive rebounds and 41 deflections. She also recorded 88 centre pass receives which was important in their drive into attack.

Pitre Bourdon, the Thunderbirds High Performance Manager spoke about the ‘strong leadership’ Garrett provides.

“Matilda has grown every year with us and had a stellar year in 2023, earning a spot with the Diamonds and becoming a premiership defender,” Bourdon said.

“She’s relentless and determined and found plenty of ball for us this year.

“Tilly also brings strong leadership to our team and we look forward to having her back for 2024 and 2025.”
