After a week of speculation, it appears that the highly anticipated UFC debut of Aussie prospect Jack Della Maddalena will still go on as a replacement has been found for his fight at UFC 270.

Della Maddelena (10-2) went on a nine-fight win streak before being given the opportunity to fight on Dana White’s Contender Series and was awarded a UFC contract last September. As he impressed UFC President Dana White after winning his Contender fight against Ange Loosa.

But the Aussie will have his hands full in Anaheim when he fights Pete Rodriguez (4-0) who is set to be making his own debut.

Last week it was reported that Della Maddalena’s original opponent Warlley Alves, had pulled out of the scheduled fight with an undisclosed injury.

It was reported today that Rodriguez had agreed to step in, this has now been confirmed by Della Maddalena’s management company Paradigm Sports as they made a post on Instagram confirming the fight. Similar posts were also shared by the Aussie’s gym Scrappy MMA & Fitness.

After making his professional MMA debut, Rodriguez is undefeated in his career with four wins, all of them being knockout finishes in the first round.

Rodriguez has only fought under the Mexican Promotion iKon Fighting Championship (formerly iKon Fighting Federation) which like Della Maddalena’s former promotion Eternal MMA, is under the UFC Fight Pass banner.

He will be finally getting his shot in the big time after his very impressive streak on the regional scene.

It is safe to say with this intriguing clash in styles, we can expect fireworks on January 23rd when Jack Della Maddalena finally makes his long-awaited UFC Debut.
