Perth Glory has announced the signings of Hana Lowry, Tijan McKenna and Tash Rigby to the W-League side for the 2021/22 season.

Perth Glory has announced the signing of captain Natasha Rigby, manager Alex Epakis, and two of the most promising teenagers in the W-League.

The signatures of Hana Lowry (17) and Tijan Mckenna (16) is a strong statement from a club that had a heavily disrupted season due to COVID restrictions and ended the season winless despite some impressive performances.

“I am personally very pleased and proud that three of our core players have committed to the club going forward,” said Epakis.

The manager had only weeks to finalise his squad last season but the early signings are a show in faith from the players and a sign of confidence in the coach.

“Although results didn’t go our way last season, I really enjoyed the environment within the team and the vision the club has moving forward,” said Lowry

“I really liked Alex as a coach and his vision for future seasons is super-exciting and something I really want to be part of.”

Lowry enjoyed a breakout season at Glory. She scored two goals in as many minutes against Sydney FC and started 14 games

Mckenna was right at home in the W-League despite her age and Epakis was delighted to retain her.

“She certainly stood out to me early in my time here and developed considerably over the course of the season,” he said.

Perth was unable to take the field until round three of the season, then missed three consecutive rounds due to Western Australia’s quarantine rules. The inexperienced team then had to catch up in a flurry of games late in the season.

These struggles have not daunted the enthusiasm Rigby has for the future.

“Last season we witnessed a multitude of young, local players step onto the big stage and it was incredible to watch them grab the opportunity and really shine.”

As last season showed, the future is never certain but it is looking very bright at Perth Glory.
