Only 12 months ago, Charlotte Flair conquered 29 other members of the WWE women’s locker room to win the Women’s Royal Rumble.
Following that win, she had the right of challenging any one of the three women’s champions; the Raw, Smackdown or NXT Women’s Champions.
She selected the NXT Women’s Champion at the time, Australia’s Rhea Ripley.
The two engaged in a thrilling rivalry, with Flair ultimately claiming the NXT Women’s Championship in a terrific match at WrestleMania.
In the lead up to the 2021 Royal Rumble, Flair spoke fondly of the rivalry she had with Ripley and the match at the Showcase of the Immortals.
“I think my favourite thing was she brought it at WrestleMania,” Flair told The Inner Sanctum.
“She wasn’t timid, handled the pressure extremely well and I know she probably dreamed of her first WrestleMania being in front of 90,000 plus people, but I think she over delivered and it was awesome to see.”
WWE’s Royal Rumble streams live this Monday at 11am AEDT on WWE Network.
