The Inner Sanctum has selected a Team of the Week comprised of the 22 best performers in Round 3 of the 2022 AFL season.

The Inner Sanctum has put together a team of the week, comprised of the best performing players from round 3 of the 2022 AFL season.

Defenders are rewarded for their defensive play, midfielders receive accolades for their dominance, while forwards receive a shout-out for hitting the scoreboard and applying pressure.

Sam Docherty continued his brilliant start in Carlton’s win over the Hawks on Sunday afternoon with 33 disposals and 13 marks. Marcus Adams shut down in-form North forward Nick Larkey and recorded 10 marks. Changkuoth Jiath had 27 disposals, and 11 rebound 50s as he tried to give the Hawks some bounce out of defence.

Despite the Tigers’ loss to the Saints, Jayden Short continued his excellent form with 31 disposals and eight marks. Jacob Weitering shut down Hawthorn key forward Jack Gunston and took a match-defining mark in the dying stages to secure Carlton the win. Tom Stewart had 29 disposals and 14 rebound 50s in Saturday night’s win against Collingwood.

Jordan Dawson recorded 24 disposals and two goals, including an after the siren match-winner to win the Showdown medal. Patrick Cripps continued his terrific start to the year with 31 disposals, 11 tackles and a goal. Angus Brayshaw had his best game of the season with 34 disposals and 20 marks in Friday night’s win over Essendon.

Reilly O’Brien dominated the ruck battle with 45 hit outs and nine tackles in Friday night’s win over Port Adelaide. Clayton Oliver collected 38 disposals and eight clearances in the win over the Bombers. Josh Dunkley was instrumental with 31 disposals and 11 tackles in the Bulldogs’ first win of the season on Thursday night.

Lachie Schultz claimed his first Glendinning-Allan Medal in Sunday’s derby win against West Coast with 23 disposals and two goals. Jeremy Cameron sparked Geelong’s comeback victory over Collingwood with six goals in one of the most dominant performances of the season. In just his third AFL game, Lachlan Gollant booted four goals against the Power.

Todd Marshall returned to form in Port’s loss to the Crows with five goals in a strong display up forward. Max King stole the show in Sunday’s win against Richmond with four goals and seven marks, including six inside 50. Lincoln McCarthy kicked five goals from 15 disposals in Brisbane’s 108-point win over North Melbourne.

Tim Taranto collected 36 disposals, eight marks and booted a goal in the Giants’ win against the Suns. Despite the defeat to Fremantle, Shannon Hurn provided a lot of resistance for the Eagles with 27 disposals down back. Dayne Zorko was influential in Brisbane’s smashing of North Melbourne with 28 disposals, including 13 score involvements. Brad Crouch had his best game in St Kilda colours with 29 possessions, nine tackles and a goal against Richmond.
