The Inner Sanctum has put together a team of the week comprised of the best performing players in round 21 of the AFL season.

Defenders are rewarded for their defensive play, midfielders receive accolades for their dominance, while forwards receive a shout-out for hitting the scoreboard and applying pressure.

Will Powell had a phenomenal performance for the Suns down back with 28 disposals at 89 per cent, nine intercepts, 10 rebounds 50s and one of the goals of the year to boot. Sam Taylor kept Tom Hawkins to one goal and enjoyed 21 disposals at 86 per cent to go with a staggering 17 intercepts and 12 marks. Chayce Jones has found his spot down back, collecting 19 disposals at 90 per cent with nine intercepts.

Jack Scrimshaw continued a brilliant patch of form with 26 touches at 88 per cent, a goal and two goal assists. Aliir Aliir won the Showdown medal thanks to 21 disposals (nine contested), 16 intercepts and five contested marks. Nick Vlastuin had his best game of the year with 30 touches at 87 per cent and 10 intercepts.

Jack Graham had 36 disposals, with his work-rate a standout feature to go with his eight tackles inside. Elliot Yeo had 20 of his 31 touches contested, to add to an insane 14 clearances in wet conditions. Dayne Zorko brought the pressure for the Lions, enjoying 34 touches, 10 tackles, 816 metres gained, 11 inside 50s and a goal.

Big Sam Draper won the ruck battle with a career-high 39 hit-outs to go with nine score involvements, eight contested possessions and a goal. Tom Mitchell was prolific again with 44 disposals at 84 per cent and a goal. Jack Steele had 34 disposals (14 contested), seven clearances, seven score involvements and a goal.

Getting more midfield time, Tim Taranto had 34 disposals, five clearances and nine tackles, and made the most of his time up forward with two crafty goals. Joe Daniher got the better of Fremantle with four goals in a smashing at Optus Stadium. Alex Neal-Bullen was the link-up man with eight score involvements and two goals, plus had five tackles inside 50.

Toby Greene did it the hard way with 12 contested possessions inside 50 and four goals, all the while getting himself suspended. Peter Wright was a man possessed in the forward half, kicking a career-high seven goals straight for the Dons in a huge boil-over. Dylan Moore kicked two goals of his own, but also assisted four more in a scintillating forward 50 display.

Christian Petracca had 28 touches, nine score involvements and kicked a goal over in the West. Dan Houston got the Power going from the back with 24 disposals, nine intercepts and 483 metres gained. Rowan Marshall had 25 disposals with 18 of them contested to go with 29 hit-outs, eight clearances and eight intercepts. Touk Miller had a Touk Miller game; 34 disposals, seven score involvements and two goals for the superstar rounds out the AFL Team of the Week for Round 21.
