The Inner Sanctum has put together a team of the week comprised of the best performing players in round 17 of the AFL season.

Defenders are rewarded for their defensive play, midfielders receive accolades for their dominance, while forwards receive a shout-out for hitting the scoreboard and applying pressure.

Jake Lloyd got the best of the Dogs on Sunday with his 33 disposals at 85 per cent out of the backline. Jacob Weitering had a fantastic contest with Tom Hawkins and held him scoreless for the game. Jack Ziebell has continued his great first season in defence, using the ball at 85 per cent with his 27 possessions.

Christian Salem dominated the Power with 26 disposals at 85 per cent. Jayden Laverde is having a career renaissance and had eight intercepts, four contested marks and used the ball at 93 per cent as the Dons held the Crows to their lowest score ever. Jack Crisp is as consistent as they get, and collected 33 touches splitting his time between the backline and midfield.

Zach Tuohy provided line breaking ability for the Cats with his 24 touches at 88 per cent and two goals. The ageless David Mundy had two goals as well, plus 30 disposals in just 63 per cent of game-time. Brandon Ellis enjoyed a day out with 41 touches in Ballarat against the Giants.

Brodie Grundy was everywhere at the MCG, collecting the ball 22 times, having 40 hit-outs and kicking a goal. Sam Walsh was literally everywhere at the MCG with 36 touches and two incredible goals in the final term. Jack Steele has been one of the best players in the league over the last month and had 32 disposals and two goals.

Jordan Dawson has worked up the field lately and continued an awesome run of form with three goals to go with 26 touches. Tom McDonald was brilliant for the Demons with three goals, while Christian Petracca also kicked three goals and had 33 disposals in a best on ground display.

Jaidyn Stephenson exploded on Monday for 38 disposals and a goal. Rory Lobb dominated the Hawks with four goals included a very fast start. Jamie Elliott kicked three goals and went through the middle to win the game for the Pies.

Mason Redman is having a career year and continued with 25 disposals and eight intercepts. Taylor Adams dominated the Tigers midfield with 31 touches and a goal. Touk Miller continued his unbelievable season with 35 disposals, 14 tackles and two goals. Tim Membrey was sensational for the Saints with 14 marks and two goals in their upset win.
