In an exciting new initiative aimed to celebrate women’s sports, the South Australian government has teamed up with six women’s teams from national competitions to launch ‘The Power of Her’.

Through the methods of unique ticketing and membership offers, as well as marketing and communications collaborations, the six teams will team up in an effort to drive crowds to women’s sports events.

The six teams involved in the project are the Adelaide Crows, Adelaide Lightning, Port Adelaide, Adelaide Strikers, the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Adelaide United.

Strikers batter Bridget Patterson has gotten behind the initiative, sharing her support for ‘The Power of Her’.

The championship winning batter was optimistic about the initiative’s potential to see even more growth in women’s sports.

“The momentum behind women’s sport in recent years is only getting stronger, and initiatives like this will continue to put female athletes in the spotlight, which will then see more and more talented players and passionate fans coming into our sports,” Patterson said.

“It is amazing to stand alongside players from other sporting codes today and commit to working together to promote women’s sport across not just South Australia but the country.

“Get down to support your team this season, but also think about trying something new, there is so much amazing sport being played across South Australia and I look forward to seeing you there.”

All clubs will be motivating their own members and fans to support a selected game for the other teams. It is hoped it will bring as many fans as possible through the gates of games around South Australia.

Clubs have already began announcing their selected games for the initiative, with the Strikers choosing the WBBL matchup between Adelaide and the Perth Scorchers on November 24 will be put in lights for ‘The Power of Her’.

The Adelaide Crows have also announced that AFLW members will receive a complimentary ticket to Adelaide United’s match with Canberra United at Hindmarsh Stadium on Sunday. They’ll also be providing a two-for-one AFLW membership and encouraging supporters to attend their clash against North Melbourne on October 29th.
