The AFL tribunal will again be a hot topic this week with Jimmy Webster’s bump on North Melbourne’s Jy Simpkin the focus.

Only a week after Port Adelaide forward Sam Powell-Pepper was rubbed out for four weeks for a hit which concussed Adelaide defender Mark Keane, Webster left the ground and collected Simpkin’s head in a sickening collision.

Dual Kangaroos premiership player and Fox Footy posted on X it should be a 10-week suspension.

“Ten weeks. Simple as that,” he said.

“I just hope Jy Simpkin is ok. Just so unnecessary. I hope we aren’t still having this conversation anymore in ‘24.”

Port Adelaide champion Warren Tredrea also suggested it would be a decent holiday for the Saint.

SEN’s Sam Edmund added it was a ‘nasty’ hit.

“Long service leave coming up for Jimmy Webster you feel. Nasty,” he tweeted.

Simpkin did not return to the field for the remainder of the AAMI Community Series game, but was in good spirits around supporters before the start of the second half.

Tempers flared around the ground following the bump, with melees during the second and third quarters.
